The Second Greatest Band on Earth

So let's just get it out of the way. Tenacious D is the greatest band on earth. Hands down, no questions asked, case in point, end of debate, exit stage left. And sure, I love Phish, the Dead, Wilco, MMJ, Kylie Minogue and others, but let's be honest with ourselves--do any of them hold up to the long and satanic shadow cast by the D?


The only one who comes close is Surprise Me Mr. Davis. 3 parts Slip and one part tomato farmer. The recipe for fun. Andrew, Marc, Brad and Nathan all join forces to play some of the most beautifully crafted songs with balls to the wall rock, americana, blues, folk and a rubber ball.

So since most people out there haven't heard of them, check out this SMMD show from High Sierra this past summer (and it was a damn fine show--they opened for MMJ in the big barn).
